COS'è L'IMMAGINAZIONE? di Francesca Matteoni

ALICE NELLA CASA DEL BIANCONIGLIO

''Cos’è l’immaginazione, dove abita e ci porta?

What is imagination, where does it dwell or lead us? It is maybe in everything that is enlivened in our eyes, when we recognize it as a fragment of ourselves. Then it is the beginning of the biggest magical travel, which is timeless, and change all of us into little Alice able to slide from a place to another without making a step out of the room. This happens in Altaluna’s works: she is an acrobat, a juggler of fancy, she finds stories and characters in the forgotten stuff of an attic, old wooden boxes that open on small secrets, puppets that grow alive in solitary dances, or the fairy tales that come back out of the forest, colouring the clay. In her images and creatures we see again familiar faces though we could not say when we first met them, and we enter a world that is fantastic, but not unknown, where we have already been during our dreams and where once, we seem to remember, we found a treasure among the many precious, useless things of childhood.
